With the COVID-19 pandemic sure to affect public transportation, it seems a private vehicle becomes the best and safest way to transport oneself (and the family). But a brand-new car is expensive, right? Wrong, if you’re looking at the Chery Tiggo 2.
Surprisingly, one of the lowest priced cars in the Philippine market today is an SUV which offers all the modern comfort, convenience, and safety features usually offered in cars double its price.
At P 695,000 (the highest trim is just P 770,000), the Chery Tiggo 2 is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 106 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque. This is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic.
Despite its 4,200-mm length, it has a generous wheelbase of 2,555 mm making it one space-efficient SUV. The Tiggo 2 sports a two-tone orange-and-black interior color scheme, giving it a sporty and upscale ambience, while still offering space for a family of five. Cargo space is generous at 420 liters, and can be further expanded with its 60/40 split-folding seats. There are also 21 individual storage spaces scattered throughout the cabin.
For infotainment, the Tiggo 2 uses an 8-inch Full HD touchscreen with smartphone screen mirroring. Not only can it mirror the display of Android and Apple devices, but it can also play back multimedia files (including video) via a USB port. Of course, the touchscreen display also doubles as the display for its rear parking camera.
Last but not the least, the Tiggo 2 is equipped with a long list of safety equipment. This includes Hill Hold Control (HHC), which prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards on an uphill incline; Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which helps ensure vehicle control on slippery roads; real-time tire pressure sensors; and an over speeding alarm to prevent unintended over speeding.
And of course, like all Chery Auto models, the Tiggo 2 comes with an industry leading 5-year general warranty, 10-year/1-million-kilometer engine warranty, and free preventive maintenance service for 3 years.
